Gawsworth Community Hub Manager


Gawsworth Community Shop Ltd is looking for a Hub Manager to initiate and develop a sustainable community driven hub for the benefit of the local community, user organisations and volunteers. This is a new role, integral to the success of this new venture.


Prime responsibilities of the role include:

● Creating a sustainable programme of community-based activities by identifying and building a network of facilitators

●  Building a network of Hub volunteers to support the smooth running of the Hub

● Establishing and managing channels of communication to promote Hub activities, ensuring all stakeholder engagement

●  Developing best working practices and systems for the effective management of all Hub activities


The successful candidate will have experience of project management, ideally within community driven organisations, and knowledge of key aspects of marketing, including social media.


Strong communication and interpersonal skills are key to success in this role. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proactive approach and strong organisational skills in addition to people management skills.

Hours of work will be between 25 and 30 hours a week. The role will require a degree of flexibility based on Hub activities and may occasionally require some weekend working. The main place of work will be at the Hub, 4 Longbutts Lane Gawsworth however the Hub Manager will be expected to meet with potential service and activity providers in the local area therefore a car owner/user is essential. A mileage allowance will be paid for any business mileage incurred.


The salary range (based on experience) is £21,500 to £23, 500 pro-rata.

The post is initially a fixed 12-month term post funded by The National Lottery, Reaching Communities Fund. Subject to the success of the Hub, the post term may be extended.

Gawsworth Community Shop Ltd is a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Society Act 2014. The Community shop is owned by the local community and is a vital resource open 7 days a week, operating with the support of over 40 volunteers. After trading profitably for 8 years, Gawsworth Community Shop Ltd is expanding and creating a Community Hub adjacent to, and accessible through the shop. The Hub will provide a resource for the whole community, offering a venue for service providers to bring their services to the community, a place for community groups to meet and deliver activities and a community space for people to meet for a coffee or lunch.
