Food deliveries and collections: a couple of volunteers are needed to deliver food orders to those members of the community experiencing difficulty getting to the shop and also collect orders from the few suppliers that don’t deliver to the shop.

Social Media Administrator:  someone with a good understanding of social media is needed to promote the shop and attract more customers, particularly when we introduce new product lines or want to publicize special offers or competitively priced products.

Maintenance Team: help is needed with repair and maintenance work to keep the hub and the shop looking smart and in good working order.

Identify competitively priced products: help is required to identify such products, and draw customers attention to them.

Volunteering Opportunities

Serving in the Shop: we are still very short of volunteers to serve at the counter, making sandwiches, serving food from the Deli, using the slicing machine and operating the till.

Paper and Magazine Returns: an additional volunteer is required to bundle up unsold papers and complete the returns form for each days papers when Geoff is unavailable; on Fridays this also involves doing magazine returns for the week.

Forecourt and Yard Maintenance: help is needed to keep the shop forecourt and back yard clean and tidy.

Restocking Shelves: a small team is required to share the daily task of facing-up and restocking shelves from stock in the back room and shed; this also means checking dates on all stock and flagging up items that are near their sell-by date and ‘reducing’ or ‘wasting’ them.

There are many different roles involved in running the shop. If you are interested in applying or simply finding out more about any of the roles below please contact Shonna directly on 01625 425428 or by email to
