Shop Plans to Reduce Coronavirus Risk

We recognise that the shop is a lifeline for many in the village and needed more than ever in these difficult times. Given the developing coronavirus situation, I want to assure you the health of our customers and our team members is our highest priority. We are closely following the advice of Public Health England and based on their guidance, introducing a variety of practical measures so that we can keep the shop open to support our community while minimising the impact to public health.  In particular we have expanded our sanitising regime to include all surfaces touched by our customers and ourselves.

We do ask that if you are at all unwell that you don’t visit the shop but ask that you arrange for someone else to shop for you. If someone visits the shop and shortly afterwards goes down with the virus we will have to close while we undertake a comprehensive deep clean.

Opening hours

The self-isolation recommended for over 70’s and those with medical conditions has left us desperately short of volunteers, particularly now the school is also closed and increased the need for grandparents to look after children. Operating three shifts a day would place an excessive burden on those that are still able to do shifts so we are closing after lunchtime, i.e. at 1:30 pm so that volunteers that do afternoon shifts can help fill the earlier shifts.

Since the situation is constantly evolving we may need to make further changes but will endeavour to keep you informed.
